Quartz ensure St Pancras doesn’t hit the buffers!

Opened by Her Majesty, the Queen, the new St Pancras Station opens in London and Quartz fan coil units are literally at the heart of it all.

Built in 1863 adjacent to GNR’s Kings Cross by the Midland Railway company as their London terminus, St Pancras station was an engineering marvel of its time. The immense train shed was the world’s largest enclosed space.
Times move on and the building was granted grade 1 listing to protect what is deemed to be a building important in the heritage of the country. St Pancras has also been designated the London terminal for the Eurostar services to and from continental Europe.
To cater for this new status a major refurbishment of the entire building has been performed by a consortium made up of Costain O’Rourke Bachy Emcor Rail (CORBER). Emcor have been responsible for the M&E services within the new building.

Quartz fan coil units have been chosen for this project which requires the highest possible quality and technical performance from all type that have been selected. Quartz had the most extensive range of products and their ceiling concealed, horizontal cased, vertical chassis and vertical cased units were all utilised. Some special stainless steel cabinets were also required for parts of the fit out.
As the building reached completion Quartz personnel were also present on site assisting the engineers in final completion. Reports back from the contractor are that these people are of the highest calibre and have ensured that the project is coming to completion smoothly and will not hit the buffers! St Pancras is just one of many projects, more of which can be seen in the Projects section.
